I guess things could be better at Amazon. If you take a look at the last week the internet giant already had to deal with 2 major issues:
1. On a somewhat rude move, Amazon decided to delete 2 books by George Orwell of any user who has bought them. They did this using the 3G wireless that connects the Kindle to the internet. This was done because it came to Amazon’s notice that the publisher of these books on Amazon lacked the book rights.
This of course incited the fury of many Kindle users and Amazon has learned its lesson, never to repeat this act again. I must say myself that I have no idea where Amazon got the nerve to make such a move. It as if they would allow themselves to break into someone’s house and take back a book that he bought from them. I am very disapointed as I thought more about Amazon up until now.
2. There has been a lot of trouble with the Kindle 2 leather cover. Apparently it caused several Kindles to crack because of improper use. Amazon, up until today, told users they need to pay a $200 repair free for this, but after getting hit with a major law suit they all of a sudden are repairing them for free. If this happened to you, you can now get your device repaired free of charge.
As you can, the PR people at Amazon are probably busy over their heads, and I must say that both of these events really diminished my respect for Amazon. I hope Amazon will be smart enough to make some conciliating moves in order to gain its respect back.
Until next time.
Matt.
